Result:  Week 5 vs Melbourne City Spartans

Both teams were out-classed by the superior Melbourne Spartans today. The results probably compliment Spartans too much, with Old Hill failure to put away a number of guilt-edge chances in both games.

Reserves: Old Hill Wanderers 0 - Melbourne Spartans 4

Seniors: Old Hill Wanderers 0 - Melbourne Spartans 4

Both games kicked off with a minutes silence for a Melbourne Spartans lad who passed away this past week. Our sincere condolences go to Melbourne Spartans from all at Old Hill.

Rob Breaks yet another bone vs Melbourne Spartans

Picture
After last year breaking his nose in a game against Melbourne Spartans, Old Hill Wanderers player Rob Linsley had to go one better this time out.

Against the same opposition, Rob has broken his elbow and faces up to 8 weeks on the sidelines.

We wish Rob a speedy recovery. However, with his right arm in plaster, it looks like certain activities may be off the cards for the foreseeable future!

Bill becomes first player to score 50 goals for Old Hill Wanderers!

Picture
Congratulations today go to Bill Jackson who has become the first player in the history of Old Hill to score over 50 goals for the club. An achievement that will put his name in the record books for years to come.

Some detractors say it took him 2 1/2 years to do what Messi did in one season, but this shouldn't disguise the fact that this is an accomplishment.

Special mention to Jules who in the coming weeks will be looking to become the second player to hit 50 goals for the black & green army. Jules is currently on 48 goals.

Player Fees

A reminder to all playing memebers that your 2012 fees are due Now. If you haven't already paid your fees for the season, please do so ASAP.

Training

Training is held at the State Hockey Centre in Parkville on Tuesday evenings, and will be held from 6pm until 8pm.

This is a flood-lit astroturf facility, so please no boots.

As always, please let John know if you can't make it.

2011 Kits

Can all players please return their kits from last season. We need to take a stock of all the kits we have for the coming year to ensure all the new players who have signed up will have a kit for the coming season.

Grill'd for Old Hill

We have been drawn out of the hat to be a part of the Grill'd Local Matters 'jars' at the Chapel St Grill'd in Windsor/Prahran for the month of May.

What this means is that every time you buy a burger from the Grill'd Chapel St store, you will be given a token to put into one of the jars by the door of the store. The jar with the most tokens at the end of the month gets $300, with $100 each going to the other two jars.

We are in a jar from 1st May through to 31st May. So what we ask is that you pop into Grill'd on Chapel Street at least 2 or 3 times a day, buy a burger and pop your tokens into our jar.

No need to worry, we're not up against any other worthy causes or charities, we're up against a Touch Rugby Team and an Aussie Rules team.... so it's a battle of the codes too.

Invite your friends and family down, tell them about it, get them to put their token in our jar. And if nothing else, they have really tasty burgers, so is worth the trip on the Number 6 tram from the City.

There's a Facebook Event, so get everyone you can on-board and eating some Grill'd Burgers from Chapel St:
